Himarë has the clearest water on the central Riviera and, crucially, a fraction of Ksamil’s crowds — a real town with a spread of beaches from easy town-side stretches to boat-only coves that see almost no one. Here’s every Himarë-area beach for 2026, which to pick, and how to reach the hidden ones.

Quick Answer

Base at Livadhi or Potami for the best all-round Himarë beach days — clear, calm and family-friendly. Swim in town at Spile, and set aside a half-day for the showpieces: Gjipe (canyon beach, hike or boat) and the boat-only sea caves and coves like Filikuri. A Himarë boat tour is the way to reach the coves the road can’t.

The Best Himarë Beaches

1. Livadhi

Himarë’s main beach — a long, gently shelving stretch of pebble and shingle a short walk or drive from town, with clear water, beach bars and sunbeds (€10–15 a pair). The easy, reliable choice, and the best all-rounder for families.

2. Potami

Just south of town, Potami has the same turquoise water with a slightly quieter, more local feel — beach clubs at one end, calmer space at the other. A short walk from many Himarë guesthouses.

3. Spile (town beach)

Right in central Himarë below the old castle — convenient for a swim between meals or a sunset dip, with cafés and tavernas steps away. Small and pebbly, but you can’t beat the location.

4. Llamani

A smaller, quieter cove between Himarë and the coves toward Jal — clear water, a low-key beach bar, and fewer people. Worth the short drive for a calmer day.

5. Jal (Jala)

A pair of pebble coves 8 km south with organised beach clubs, camping and a livelier summer scene — popular with Albanian families. Two beaches: the busier main Jal and a quieter neighbour.

6. Gjipe (canyon beach)

The showpiece. A white-pebble beach at the mouth of a dramatic canyon between Himarë and Dhërmi, reached by a 20–30 minute hike or by boat — wild, undeveloped and unforgettable. One of the most beautiful beaches in Albania.

7. Filikuri & the boat-only coves

North of Himarë, sheer cliffs hide coves like Filikuri and a string of sea caves with no land access — reached only by boat, and empty because of it. The clearest, quietest water on this stretch.

Getting to the Beaches

Himarë sits on the SH8 coastal road — the town beaches are walkable, but a rental car makes Llamani, Jal and the Gjipe trailhead far easier. The boat-only coves and Gjipe-by-sea are reached on a Himarë boat tour from the harbour. See the Himarë destination guide for getting there from Tirana or Sarandë.
