Dhërmi has the most dramatic beaches on the Albanian Riviera — long white-pebble strips dropping into startlingly clear, deep-blue water beneath 300-metre cliffs, and the coast’s liveliest beach-club scene. It’s also the gateway to Gjipe, the canyon beach many consider the most beautiful in Albania. Here’s every Dhërmi-area beach for 2026.

Quick Answer

Base on Dhërmi beach or Drymades for the Riviera’s best beach-club days and clearest water — Drymades for the boho-boutique feel, Dhërmi main for the bigger scene. Set aside a half-day for Gjipe (canyon beach, hike or boat) and, if you’re arriving over the Llogara Pass, a stop at Palasë. Bring reef shoes — it’s white pebble, not sand.

The Best Dhërmi Beaches

1. Dhërmi Beach (main)

A 2 km strip of bright white pebble under limestone cliffs — the coast’s most photogenic beach and its beach-club centre. Sunbeds, cocktail bars, DJs from evening. Busy and buzzing in August; stunning in June and September.

2. Drymades (Drimades)

Just along the shore, Drymades is the bohemian, boutique end — bungalows among olive trees, a creative international crowd, sunset bars and live music. The same clear water, a more stylish and relaxed vibe. The Riviera’s coolest beach.

3. Gjipe (canyon beach)

The showpiece — a white-pebble cove at the mouth of a dramatic canyon between Dhërmi and Himarë, reached by a 20–30 minute hike or by boat. No road, no development, wild and unforgettable. One of the most beautiful beaches in Albania.

4. Palasë

The first beach as you descend the Llogara Pass into the Riviera — a long pebble stretch anchoring the upscale Green Coast development, with a dramatic mountain backdrop and newer resorts.

5. Jal (Jala) — a little further south

Between Dhërmi/Himarë, the Jal coves add organised beach clubs, camping and a livelier family scene — an easy add-on day. Full detail in our Himarë beaches guide.

Getting to the Beaches

Dhërmi sits on the SH8 coastal road below its hilltop village — a rental car makes the beaches (spread below the village) and the Gjipe trailhead far easier, and the descent from the Llogara Pass is one of Albania’s great drives. Gjipe-by-sea and the coves are reached on a Dhërmi or Himarë boat tour. See the Dhërmi destination guide for getting there.
